1 Timothy 6:9-10 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. (KJV)
As a child of God our Lord knows what you need before you even ask. With that said, why is mankind going out in the deep murky cesspools of this world, drowning in destruction? The enemy is pulling a fast one on mankind just like he did in the beginning with Eve, same forbidden fruit, different disguise. Genesis 3:4-6 And the serpent said unto the woman, ye shall not surely die: 5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. 6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. (KJV) As soon as the enemy was able to point the woman away from the tree of life it was game over. In looking at verse 6 we see the imagination being presented to the woman, something too good to be true. Many in the Church today think along the same lines, if they just had all this money these so called preachers have been promising them, they too could live the good life. Luke 4:5-8 And the devil, taking him up into a high mountain, showed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 And the devil said unto him, all this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. 7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine. 8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shall worship the Lord thy God, and him only shall thou serve. (KJV) The enemy took a shot at the second Adam and found out He wasn’t going to bite. Our Lord had His senses exercised to know the difference between what was good and what was the root cause of evil. As you see He was able to cast the imagination down immediately so that His mind didn’t wander off onto the things of this world. Wow, what could your life be like if you followed suit? I John 2:15-17 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17 And the world passes away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abides for ever. (KJV) This world and all its empty promises is passing away and so are all those who are holding to its way of thinking. Unfortunately this includes many of God’s people who begin so well in the Spirit, but are duped into thinking something in this world will perfect their walk. Isaiah 5:20-23 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! 21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! 22 Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink: 23 Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him! (KJV)
The difference between good and evil is night and day; at least it is when you allow the light of the gospel of Christ to shine in your heart. Today there are many who call what God considers evil, good, and what our Lord says is good, evil. The same thing was taking place in the time of Isaiah and it is only going to get worse and worse in these last days we are in. Malachi 2:16-17 For the LORD, the God of Israel saith that he hates putting away: for one covers violence with his garment, saith the LORD of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit that ye deal not treacherously. 17 Ye have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet ye say, wherein have we wearied him? When ye say, every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and he delights in them; or, where is the God of judgment? (KJV) These same things are happening with God’s people and not just those of the world. They happen when mankind no longer chooses the tree of life, but instead settles for the forbidden fruit. John 7:6-7 Then Jesus said unto them, my time is not yet come: but your time is always ready. 7 The world cannot hate you; but me it hates, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil. (KJV) The deeper you go with the Lord, the more removed you will become with the world and its fallen way of thinking. It is at that point in which you will have to decide who you are going to serve and please, the God in heaven or a fallen mankind? The only standing ovation you should be getting is when you are on your way out and not on the way in like many of mans’ false prophets. John 15:19-22 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. 20 Remember the word that I said unto you; the servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. 21 But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me. 22 If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloak for their sin. (KJV) God still has a few that He has chosen who have not fallen for the fruit of this world, who will only accept the fruit of the Spirit. The reason for all the hatred is similar to what we saw with the first man Adam who had heard the voice of God and tried to cover up the outward man not realizing their spiritual nakedness. Matthew 23:26-28 Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter that the outside of them may be clean also. 27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchers, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. 28 Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity. (KJV) The verses refer to rotten fruit which can be easily described in one word, religion. God bless and have a prosperous day in Christ Jesus our Lord dearly loved. Genesis 2:15-17 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. 16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, of every tree of the garden thou may freely eat: 17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shall not eat of it: for in the day that thou eat thereof thou shall surely die. (KJV)
The first man Adam was a living soul without knowledge of evil and was able to avoid anything that would be considered sin. Once mankind fell into the realm of sin and were now being bombarded by it, they had no defense. In fact, not only were they kicked out of the garden, but they would no longer have access to the tree of life so that they could overcome the wiles of the enemy. 1 Corinthians 15:45-47 And so it is written, the first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. 46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. 47 The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. (KJV) Jesus Christ was not just a natural man; he was the first born again man led by the Spirit of Christ within Him to show us how to overcome evil. With all that God has provided us, all the power we have access to, there is no excuse for why we the Church should be anything less than over comers. Greater is He that is within me than anything or anyone in this world who would try to tempt me with anything other than what God would have to offer this day. Galatians 1:3-5 Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, 4 Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father: 5 To whom is glory forever and ever. Amen. (KJV) The reason God sent His Son our way is so that we could partake of the tree of life again and live spiritually. This world that we are surrounded in is a fallen one and not something we should be caught up in anymore. Most of what I see going on today is based on what a fallen man considers to be the plan of salvation and not what our Lord says will get you home. That same serpent in the beginning is the same one that is trying to point God’s people in the wrong direction today; and it’s sad to say that he has perfected his craft. Hebrews 5:12-14 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. 13 For every one that uses milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. 14 But strong meat belongs to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. (KJV) God requires His people to grow up and mature. You need to hear the Lord for yourself first hand, so that you can quickly identify the difference between what man settles for and what our Lord considers to be good; and that takes a daily regimen of hearing our Lord and then stepping out in faith, being led by the Spirit and not by emotions or outward appearances. Man was given simple instructions on what God said He would consider good and what was evil. Today we all have the same choice; and as we will see throughout the Word we need to know for ourselves what God says is good and in play and what He says is evil and should be refused. Genesis 3:6-8 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. 7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. 8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden. (KJV) The enemy tried to convince Adam and Eve that they wouldn’t die if they partook of the forbidden fruit; he convinced them that God was holding out on them, sound familiar? How many times have you prayed for something and then instead of waiting for it to manifest, decided to indulge in it anyway? In essence man did die, because as we see above Adam realized that he was exposed and spiritually naked which is why he tried to cover up not only the outward man, but also tried to hide from the voice of the Lord that was calling him. Not much has changed over time has it? Romans 7:8-11 But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead. 9 For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died. 10 And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death. 11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me. (KJV) Paul the apostle found out that the tree of knowledge of good and evil was manifesting itself again through the old law. Paul found out the hard way that even though he had a born again experience he was taken down by the works of the law. I have seen so many born again believers who have experienced the same thing; they profess to know God, but in works deny Him all over again and are dying spiritually. Galatians 3:10-11 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continues not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. 11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, the just shall live by faith. (KJV) Many like Adam begin so well, but then end up on the outside looking back in because they no longer live by faith in what our Lord has done on their behalf; instead they try to live by what they think they need to be doing on His behalf.
